BankIslami has been recognised as Pakistan’s Best Islamic Digital Bank by Euromoney, one of the world’s leading authorities on financial services excellence. The award acknowledges the bank’s continued investment in digital innovation, technology-driven transformation, and expanding access to Shariah-compliant banking across Pakistan.

The latest recognition marks the second consecutive year that BankIslami has received an award from Euromoney. Previously, the bank was named Best Islamic Bank in Pakistan, highlighting its consistent progress in enhancing customer experience and strengthening its position in the country’s Islamic banking sector.

The award reflects BankIslami’s ongoing efforts to modernize its digital infrastructure while making Islamic financial services more accessible to customers nationwide. The bank has focused on combining technological innovation with Shariah-compliant banking solutions to meet the evolving needs of individuals and businesses.

A major milestone in the bank’s digital transformation came in early 2025, when it successfully upgraded its core banking infrastructure to iMAL R-14. The migration to a centralized, API-enabled platform has enabled faster and more efficient banking services, with more than 70 percent of customer interactions now taking place through digital channels.

BankIslami has also integrated artificial intelligence into several internal functions, digitizing a significant portion of its workflows, communications, and operational processes. These improvements have enhanced operational efficiency while supporting the bank’s broader digital transformation strategy.

One of the bank’s most significant achievements during the year was the launch of aik, Pakistan’s first fully digital Islamic banking platform. Designed for customers seeking convenient, mobile-first financial services without compromising on Shariah principles, the platform represents a major step forward in the digital evolution of Islamic banking in Pakistan.

Commenting on the recognition, BankIslami President and CEO Rizwan Ata said the bank’s digital transformation is centered on making Islamic banking more seamless, convenient, and accessible for customers. He added that digital innovation plays a key role in advancing financial inclusion and ensuring more people can benefit from world-class Shariah-compliant banking services.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer Imran H. Shaikh said BankIslami’s mission extends beyond business growth, emphasizing the importance of making Islamic banking accessible to everyone. He noted that continued investment in digital technologies will help simplify Islamic banking and encourage wider adoption across the country.

The Euromoney award further reinforces BankIslami’s reputation as a leader in Pakistan’s Islamic banking industry. By combining traditional Islamic banking values with modern digital solutions, the bank continues to set new standards for innovation, customer service, and financial inclusion.

As Pakistan’s digital banking ecosystem continues to evolve, recognitions such as this highlight the growing importance of technology in expanding access to secure, efficient, and Shariah-compliant financial services for millions of customers.
