Lahore Set for Major Beautification Ahead of Basant 2027

Lahore is set to undergo a major beautification drive ahead of the planned Basant Festival 2027, with authorities preparing a cultural and decorative plan aimed at showcasing the city’s historic identity and traditional heritage.

Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Bilal Yasin has directed the relevant departments to complete preparations for an extensive beautification programme before the festival.

The plan will focus on prominent roads, major entry points and important heritage locations across Lahore. Authorities intend to transform these areas with colourful decorations and cultural displays reflecting the traditional character of the city.

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) will supervise the beautification activities as part of the broader arrangements for Basant 2027.

According to the proposed plan, themed floats, decorative lighting and floral installations will be placed at key locations. The displays are expected to create a festive atmosphere while highlighting Lahore’s cultural and historical significance.

The arrangements were discussed during a meeting chaired by Bilal Yasin on Wednesday. PHA Director General Ahmad Usman Javed briefed the minister on the preparations and the proposed beautification measures for the upcoming festival.

The authorities are expected to focus particularly on locations that attract large numbers of residents and visitors. Major roads and city entrances will receive special attention to ensure that the festival atmosphere is visible across important parts of Lahore.
