The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has released special travel guidelines for bus operators and passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. The advisory aims to ensure safe and smooth travel on highways and motorways during the busy holiday period when thousands of people travel across the country to celebrate with family.

The directions were issued following instructions from Additional Inspector General NHMP South Zone Munir Ahmed Sheikh and Deputy Inspector General Motorway Police Syed Fareed Ali. Authorities have emphasized strict compliance with safety measures to minimize accidents and ensure a secure travel environment during the Eid rush.

According to the NHMP, transport operators have been instructed to follow all road safety rules while operating buses on national highways and motorways. Drivers must maintain legal speed limits, avoid reckless driving, and ensure that vehicles are roadworthy before beginning their journeys.

Officials also stressed that bus drivers should be properly licensed and well-rested before operating long-distance routes. Fatigue among drivers has been identified as a major safety concern during peak travel seasons, and authorities are encouraging transport companies to rotate drivers where necessary.

Passengers have also been advised to cooperate with transport operators and follow safety instructions while traveling. The NHMP has urged travelers to avoid overcrowded buses and ensure they board vehicles that comply with official safety standards.

To maintain order during the Eid travel rush, motorway police patrol teams will remain active across major routes. Increased monitoring and enforcement are expected to help manage traffic flow and ensure compliance with road regulations.

Authorities also highlighted the importance of vehicle inspections before departure. Bus operators have been directed to check braking systems, tires, lights, and other essential components to reduce the risk of mechanical failures during long journeys.

The NHMP reiterated its commitment to public safety and urged travelers to report any violations or unsafe driving practices through official helplines. Passengers are encouraged to remain alert during their journeys and immediately notify authorities if they observe dangerous behavior by drivers.

With Eid-ul-Fitr approaching, the number of travelers on Pakistan’s highways typically rises significantly. By implementing these guidelines, the National Highways and Motorway Police aims to ensure safer roads and a smoother travel experience for families heading to celebrate the festive occasion.
