Shooter Mohsin Nawaz hails Pakistan Army and Punjab government for landmark World Boxing Championship

Pakistan’s renowned sports psychologist and international shooting champion Mohsin Nawaz has praised the Pakistan Army and the Punjab government for hosting the 2nd World International Boxing Championship in Lahore, describing the event as a milestone in Pakistan’s sporting journey. The four-day tournament, branded “Fight for Glory,” ran from November 26 to 29 at the Jinnah Sports Complex and drew 44 fighters from 15 countries.

The championship transformed Lahore into a global destination for combat sports and showcased Pakistan’s capability to manage international events with efficiency and professionalism. Mohsin Nawaz, who holds the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and multiple international shooting medals, said that events of this scale shape international perception and improve confidence in Pakistan’s hospitality, security and sports infrastructure.

He noted that the seamless organisation demonstrated Pakistan’s operational capability across multiple fronts, from security to athlete welfare. According to Nawaz, the coordination between the Punjab Government, Lahore Corps, and Fauji Foundation, in collaboration with the World Boxing Association, reflected a unified approach that gave the event global credibility.

Nawaz attended the championship as a distinguished guest and highlighted its impact from both an athletic and psychological perspective. He called the competition a “game-changer” for Pakistan’s sports landscape, arguing that multinational tournaments can elevate competitiveness and inspire local talent. His observation emphasised that international exposure builds resilience, ambition and national pride among youth.

The event also became a networking hub for Pakistani sports figures and visiting athletes. Nawaz interacted with Amir Khan, Shahid Afridi, Inzamam-ul-Haq and others, describing the engagement as both motivating and constructive for future collaborations.

He further committed to supporting Pakistan’s sports development initiatives by offering mentorship, psychological training and advisory support. For Nawaz, the long-term benefit lies in the psychological empowerment of young athletes who witness world-class competition firsthand.

The championship drew praise from international participants and high-profile guests, including Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Lieutenant General Fayyaz Hussain Shah. Nawaz described the response from foreign athletes as encouraging, noting that Pakistan’s organisational strengths earned recognition beyond the boxing ring.
