The Pakistan Super League is gearing up for one of its biggest expansions ever, as Gilgit and Faisalabad have been confirmed as the names of the two new franchises set to join the tournament. According to sources, both teams will be part of the PSL for the next decade, marking the league’s most significant structural shift since it was launched.

Insiders revealed that several competing cities, including Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, Rawalpindi, and Hyderabad, have been removed from consideration after thorough evaluations. With the selection process now complete, the Pakistan Cricket Board is preparing to move into the bidding phase for the two new franchises.

The PCB is expected to announce the official bidding schedule soon, inviting interested parties to purchase ownership rights. This development is likely to draw considerable interest from business groups and cricket investors, given the growing commercial value of the PSL.

Meanwhile, uncertainty remains around the Multan Sultans franchise. Sources disclosed that negotiations between the PCB and current owner Ali Tareen have yet to reach a final agreement. Due to unresolved matters, the board is considering opening bidding for the Multan franchise as well, allowing new contenders to step forward if necessary.

This move could introduce additional competition into the ownership landscape and reshape the league’s financial structure. The PCB aims to ensure stability and transparency as it works toward completing all necessary procedures.

The formal announcement of the two new franchises will be made once bidding and ownership finalizations are complete. The inclusion of Gilgit and Faisalabad is expected to expand the PSL’s reach, strengthen regional representation, and introduce new fan bases into Pakistan’s most popular cricket tournament.

Cricket enthusiasts are now watching closely as the league takes this major step toward expansion, anticipating fresh rivalries, new talent pools, and broader nationwide engagement in the seasons ahead.
