Pakistan men’s national junior field hockey team pulled out of the tournament; Oman men’s national junior field hockey team will take their place

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has confirmed that Oman will replace Pakistan in the upcoming 2025 Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup, following Pakistan’s withdrawal from the tournament. Business Standard+2NDTV Sports+2

Pakistan withdrew due to political and logistical reasons ahead of the tournament, which is scheduled to be held in India from November 28 to December 10, 2025.

Why the Change?

Pakistan’s decision to withdraw from the event in Chennai and Madurai reportedly stemmed from ongoing tensions and concerns over the venue and travel arrangements. The FIH has acted swiftly to fill the spot and ensure the 24-team tournament maintains its full structure.

What This Means for Oman and the Tournament

With Oman joining the lineup, the FIH ensures all qualification slots are honored and competition integrity is preserved. The new entrant will assume Pakistan’s scheduled fixtures and group-stage position.

For Pakistan, the withdrawal marks a significant absence from a major global hockey event. The decision may affect ranking, international experience, and the development trajectory of Pakistani junior hockey.
