Pakistan’s Textile Exports Show 5.37% Growth in Early Fiscal Year 2024-25

Pakistan’s textile exports surged by 5.37% in the first two months of the fiscal year 2024-25, reaching $2.915 billion, compared to $2.766 billion during the same period last year, as reported by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Several textile products contributed to this growth. Cotton cloth exports grew by 7.23% to $322.654 million, and knitwear exports saw a similar rise of 7.15%, reaching $820.585 million. Bed wear exports also increased by 7.61% to $504.753 million, while towels exports grew by 6.87% to $170.766 million.

Another notable segment was ready-made garments, which experienced a significant jump of 17.85%, recording $658.499 million in exports.

Setbacks in Cotton Yarn and Raw Cotton

Despite the overall positive trend, some areas faced declines. Cotton yarn exports dropped by 45.21%, reducing from $201.837 million to $110.588 million. Exports of raw cotton also fell to zero, from 3.073 million in the same period last year.

On a year-on-year basis, the textile sector recorded a 12.99% increase in August 2024, with exports amounting to $1.644 billion, compared to $1.455 billion in August 2023. Similarly, there was a 29.36% month-on-month rise in textile exports from July 2024 to August 2024.

These statistics highlight the steady growth of Pakistan’s textile industry, despite challenges in certain sectors, with key segments like knitwear and ready-made garments driving the overall positive performance.
