Ramadan Moon-Sighting Forecast

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has shared its forecast for Ramadan 1446 AH. According to their report, the crescent is expected to appear on February 28 or March 1, 2025. If sighted, the first day of fasting will commence on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Ramadan: A Month of Devotion

Ramadan is a time of spiritual renewal and community for Muslims around the globe. It involves fasting from food, drink, and negative behaviors during daylight hours. The focus is on deepening one’s connection to Allah through prayer, charity, and reflection.

Muslims are encouraged to perform nightly Taraweeh prayers, read the Quran, and extend kindness to others. This sacred month is a profound journey of faith and self-discipline.

Celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr

Eid-ul-Fitr, the joyous festival marking the end of Ramadan, is expected to fall on March 30 or 31, 2025, depending on the sighting of the Shawwal moon. PMD anticipates the crescent’s appearance on March 29 or 30.

Eid celebrations include special prayers, delicious meals, and sharing with the less fortunate through almsgiving. It is a time of unity, gratitude, and festivity within the Muslim community.

Traditional Moon-Sighting Practices

Despite technological advancements, Pakistan’s Ruet-e-Hilal Committee plays a crucial role in moon-sighting decisions. Their announcements ensure that Islamic traditions are respected and followed nationwide.
