Ramadan Begins in Pakistan

Muslims in Pakistan will begin the holy month of Ramadan on Tuesday (tomorrow) after the official Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed the sighting of the new crescent moon on Monday evening.

The announcement came after a series of meetings held across Pakistan, including Peshawar (where the central committee is chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad), Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Quetta.

Pakistan joins several other countries around the world, including nations in the Middle East and Europe, where Ramadan has already begun. Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei, and Oman have also declared March 12th as the first day of Ramadan.

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar and is a time of profound spiritual significance for Muslims. During Ramadan, Muslims observe fasting from sunrise to sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other worldly desires, while focusing on prayer, reflection, and charitable acts.
