Islamabad Court Issues Bailable Arrest Warrants for CDA Chairman

An Islamabad civil court has issued bailable arrest warrants for the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) over the alleged failure to implement a court decree concerning affected residents.

Civil Judge Naseerud Din passed the order while hearing a petition seeking execution of an earlier court decree. The case relates to residents whose properties were acquired by the CDA several years ago.

During the proceedings, lawyers representing the affected residents told the court that the authority had acquired their houses but had not provided the benefits promised under its rehabilitation policy.

According to the petitioners’ counsel, the affected residents have been waiting for the implementation of the promised rehabilitation measures for around 28 years.

Barrister Adil Aziz Qazi and other lawyers appeared on behalf of the affected residents and argued that the CDA had not fulfilled its obligations despite the passage of a significant period.

The petition was filed to seek enforcement of the court’s decree and ensure that the affected residents receive the relief they were awarded under the relevant legal proceedings.

The issuance of bailable arrest warrants means the court has taken a formal step in the proceedings over the reported non-compliance. The warrants are different from non-bailable warrants, as the person concerned can generally secure release by furnishing the required bail or bond, subject to the court’s orders.
