Makkah Grand Mosque Muezzin Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani Passes Away at 51

Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Al-Madani, a muezzin at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, has passed away at the age of 51, according to reports from Saudi authorities.

His death was reported by the Saudi Broadcasting Authority and the Presidency of Religious Affairs, bringing attention to the passing of a well-known voice associated with the Grand Mosque.

Sheikh Al-Madani was among the 24 principal muezzins appointed to serve at Masjid al-Haram, one of Islam’s most significant places of worship.

Muezzins at the Grand Mosque have an important role in announcing the beginning of prayer through the adhan, the Islamic call to prayer. Their duties follow an organized rotation throughout the week.

According to the reported system, six muezzins rotate each day to deliver the call to prayer for the five obligatory daily prayers. The rotation also includes the first adhan of Fajr.
