Karachi’s Rs. 2 Billion Munawar Chowrangi Underpass to Open for Traffic This Sunday

Karachi is set to witness another improvement in its road infrastructure as the Munawar Chowrangi Underpass officially opens for traffic on Sunday. The project, valued at approximately Rs. 2 billion, has been completed and is expected to help ease traffic congestion in one of the city’s busiest areas.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced the completion of the underpass through a statement shared on X, confirming that motorists will be able to use the new route from Sunday. Although the underpass will be fully operational for vehicles, the mayor noted that some finishing work will continue after its inauguration. Beautification efforts and tiling of the side walls will proceed without affecting the movement of traffic, allowing the public to benefit from the new infrastructure while aesthetic improvements are completed.

The Munawar Chowrangi Underpass has been designed to streamline vehicle movement at a key intersection that frequently experiences heavy traffic during peak hours.
