Govt Says There Is No Fertilizer Shortage in Pakistan Ahead of Crop Season

The federal government has assured farmers and the agricultural sector that Pakistan is not facing a fertilizer shortage, stating that adequate urea stocks are available nationwide to meet demand for the upcoming crop season. Officials have also emphasized that there is no immediate risk of supply disruptions, aiming to ease concerns about fertilizer availability and pricing.

The reassurance came during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain. The session was attended by Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Shah and focused on reviewing the country’s fertilizer supply, market prices, and distribution system.

During the meeting, government officials assessed the current stock position and discussed strategies to ensure uninterrupted fertilizer availability for farmers. According to the ministry, existing urea reserves are sufficient to support agricultural activities, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent shortages during the critical sowing period.

The federal government reiterated that maintaining a stable fertilizer supply remains one of its top priorities, given agriculture’s vital role in Pakistan’s economy.
