Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a 25% ownership stake in Spanish second-tier club UD Almería, the club confirmed on Thursday.

Ronaldo made the investment through his company, CR7 Sports, marking another significant step in his growing business portfolio beyond his playing career. The move signals his continued involvement in European football, not just as a player but now also as a stakeholder.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner previously enjoyed a legendary nine-year spell at Real Madrid, where he became the club’s all-time leading goal scorer and won multiple domestic and international titles. His deep ties to Spanish football make the investment in Almería particularly notable.

UD Almería, currently competing in Spain’s second division, will likely benefit from Ronaldo’s global brand value, commercial appeal, and football expertise as they aim for top-flight ambitions.

This latest venture reflects Ronaldo’s expanding footprint in sports ownership, as elite athletes increasingly transition into executive and investment roles within the game.
